Summer Art Studio Workshop: Awakening the Artist Within

Through the creation of a series of works and extensive dialogue, artists/educators will discuss the origin of their ideas and the choices they make to communicate them. Participants will spend concentrated time investigating ideas and experimenting with various media to enhance their understanding of the creative process. Participants will demonstrate their interpretation of a concept and navigation of the creative process through the completion of a body of work (about five pieces) of their chosen media. Participants will be provided a copy of "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron a few weeks prior to the workshop and are asked to read the book and complete some of the exercises. Each artist will work in their medium and must come prepared with their personal supplies. Some basic materials will be provided.
