Visual Arts: Monochromatic Composition: Abstraction and Shapes in Punch Needle "Creativity is contagious. Pass it on" Albert Einstein. This studio workshop led by renowned textile artist Aurora Molina introduces the art of punch needle, its history dating back to Egyptian times and its contemporary use in art. Monochromatic Composition: Abstraction and Shapes in Punch Needle is also a study in color theory, composition, and abstract art. After a lecture/presentation, participants will work in a studio setting to learn about the medium through hands-on practice. All materials are provided during the course. About the Materials (All basic tools will be borrowed during class): a #10 punch needle, yarns or embroidery floss, canvas which is wrapped around a round embroidery hoop, and scissors Participants are encouraged to bring a very simple abstract design that will fit into an 8" x 8" round hoop (Optional).
