Miami-Dade Art Region

The prestigious juried Miami-Dade County regional exhibition, installed at the Rubell Family Collection precedes a national competition conducted by The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, Inc. Top award-winning entries are shipped to New York City at the close of the exhibition and judged alongside entries from students across the United States. Students in grades 7 – 12 are eligible.

Only Silver and Gold Key Winners will be showcased in the exhibition.

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the national nonprofit organization that presents The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, requires standardized processing fees of $7.00 for each individual category submission and $25.00 for each portfolio submission. 

Public, Charter and Private Schools are welcome to submit artwork under a fee-based system.
 
Individual artwork submission fees for Miami-Dade County Public Schools Visual Arts Students 
Visual Arts Students submissions (must be enrolled in a Visual Arts Course) will be underwritten by Division of Academics, Visual Arts Education Program Office at (10) ten submissions per art teacher.  Public school students can submit UNLIMITED portfolios at $25 per submission.

Charter, Private schools and Home School students are welcome to submit individual artworks at $7.00 per submission.  Charter and Private Schools are welcome to submit UNLIMITED portfolios at $25 per submission.  Additionally, a School Site processing fee of $50.00 must accompany the artwork submission fees.

All fees must be paid prior to artwork adjudication.

READ CAREFULLY - Submissions not paid prior to the adjudication period will not be judged.  NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS will be accepted.  Fees must be submitted by the participating school site only.  Home School students may submit payment via Money Order or online at the Dade Art Educators Association website at www.dadearteducators.org.

Submit Fee Waiver Forms for individual and portfolio entries along with a letter on school letterhead signed by a school administrator, listing all student names/ID #'s who qualify for free or reduced lunch.  All Submission Forms and Waiver Forms if applicable are due on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at noon. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Please specify the total number of entries you are paying for, include student name (s), and please specify if they are Individual or Portfolio Entries.

(When registering look for the fee waiver form on the registration and click on it) Download the form-have parents sign it and upload it to the registration online.

Image Requirements

Digital Image Requirements

  • Artwork must be submitted as a digital file in JPG, GIF, or PNG format (PSD, BMP, PDF, RAW, or TIF files are not accepted).

  • Print dimensions must be at least 5” x 7” or approximately 13 x 18 centimeters, and image resolution must be 300 dpi.

  • 3-D submissions may include up to 4 images. Please include a ruler or object for reference to indicate scale in at least one of the images.

  • Submissions allowing for video uploads must be .mp4, .mov, .wmv, .avi, .mpg, or .mpeg files.

  • Video Game submissions must be .exe, .zip, .rar, or .swf files, must also include a 250-500 word gameplay summary in the provided text editor, and a gameplay video.
